You Look A Lot Like Me

Domestic Violence is a major problem in our society today.  Despite the exposure that this issue receives from the film and television industries and in the media, the available statistics remain highly alarming, and incidences of domestic abuse and intimate partner homicides make front-page news around the country every day.

There are many false perceptions about domestic violence and whom it happens to.  The simple and tragic reality is that no one is immune to domestic abuse.  It affects millions of Americans, regardless of age, gender, ethnic or socioeconomic background or religious or sexual orientation.  Films that do not accurately portray the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence are dangerous and do an enormous disservice to society.

“You Look A Lot Like Me” seeks to dissolve some of the stereotypes surrounding the issue of intimate partner violence and to promote authentic portrayals of those whose lives are touched by domestic abuse.

We want to foster a social discourse with this film through different avenues of storytelling. Our hope is that it will inform and edify our audience and ultimately serves as a vehicle for change.

“You Look A Lot Like Me” is scheduled for release in 2010, with test screenings to be held on both coasts in late summer/early fall.  We are presently seeking finishing funds.  Please contact chloe@tortoiseandfinch.com for more information.
